Performance, Politics and Popular Culture
The inaugural season of Fellowships at the Artists’ Research Centre will focus on an investigation of the interplay between performance, politics and popular culture. Through a two year programme of research and projects, the Fellowships will investigate the creative possibilities presented by engaging in political and social discourse using the mechanisms of popular culture. How can art and culture effect political and social attitudes in a contemporary context? The Fellowships create a space for focused experimentation, supporting a range of approaches from community engagement to theatrical re-enactment. Performance, Politics and Popular Culture is supporting the work and thinking of artists and academics offering the ideas which can re shape the world, embracing the tools to hand.
